Chapter 8 - The Original Whitmore Trust
Richard showed Marissa the original trust.
It contained one extraordinary clause.
Thirty-seven percent of Whitmore Infrastructure's voting rights belonged to Thomas's direct descendants.
Marissa was the primary beneficiary.
If she died before activation, the rights passed to her surviving sibling.
Adrian stared at the document.
“So the company isn't mine.”
Richard shook his head.
“Not legally.”
“Who owns it?”
“You.”
Richard pointed at Marissa.
“Her.”
Then Clara's name appeared.
Marissa looked confused.
“Who is Clara?”
Richard didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he opened Ethan's private file.
Inside was a handwritten note.
“You have a sister.
Her name is Anna Bell.”
Marissa's hands trembled.
“My sister is alive?”
Before anyone could respond, the phone rang.
A security officer in Vermont said the safe house had been attacked.
Then came a photograph.
Elizabeth's empty room.
A message:
“YOU HAVE FORTY-EIGHT HOURS.”
Another message:
“FIND THE SECOND DAUGHTER.”
Adrian looked at Marissa.
“This is bigger than the trust.”
