Chapter 12 - The Deal He Thought He Won
They escaped the burning house.
Adrian decided to meet Edward.
But this time he had a plan.
He would pretend to surrender.
At an abandoned warehouse, Edward held Elizabeth hostage.
Adrian signed the transfer papers.
Edward smiled.
“You finally understand.”
Adrian looked at him.
“No.”
Edward frowned.
“I understand that you were never my father.”
Silence.
Richard entered with federal investigators.
Daniel followed.
Samuel brought the original financial records.
The emergency injunction had already frozen Edward's assets.
The board had suspended him.
His accounts were under investigation.
Edward looked at Adrian.
“You think this is over?”
“No.”
Edward smiled.
“You still don't know the truth about Marissa's birth.”
Marissa stepped forward.
“Then tell me.”
Edward leaned closer.
“The trust was never the real weapon.”
“What was?”
“Evidence.”
He looked at Elizabeth.
“She knows.”
