Whitmore Infrastructure began collapsing.
Banks froze accounts.
Investors demanded answers.
The board launched an investigation.
Edward's name disappeared from the company website.
Marissa stood before the original trust.
“I don't want this.”
Adrian looked at her.
“Then don't take it.”
She stared.
“You're not going to fight me?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because it's yours.”
Thomas's letter answered the rest.
“You may take the company.
You may sell it.
You may dismantle it.
You may give it away.
But never let another man tell you that your birth determines what you deserve.”
Then a new document appeared.
A hospital record.
Four infant entries.
Baby A — Female.
Baby B — Female.
Baby C — Male.
Baby D — Female.
Adrian's name was attached to Baby C.
Marissa's name to Baby A.
Clara's name to Baby B.
Baby D was marked deceased.
Then came another document.
A genetic report.
Thomas was Adrian's biological father.
Edward was not.
Adrian looked at Edward.
“You raised your brother's son.”
Edward's face went white.
Elizabeth whispered:
“Thomas was your father.”
Adrian closed his eyes.
The man he had mourned all his life had been his biological father.
