Chapter 15 - The Two Heirs
At midnight, Adrian and Marissa entered Whitmore Tower.
Edward stood beside the windows.
“You came.”
“Where's Clara?”
“Safe.”
“Prove it.”
Edward placed a box on the table.
Inside were old identification cards.
Baby A — Female — Thomas Whitmore / Elizabeth Whitmore.
Baby B — Female — Unknown Father / Elizabeth Whitmore.
Baby C — Male — Adrian Whitmore.
Baby D — Female — Unknown.
Richard entered behind them.
He carried the original hospital ledger.
“There were four entries.”
Edward smiled.
“Now you understand.”
Richard produced a genetic report.
Thomas Whitmore and Adrian:
99.98% biological relationship.
Adrian stared.
“My father.”
Elizabeth appeared on a screen.
“Yes.”
She was crying.
“Thomas was your biological father.”
Adrian looked toward Edward.
“And you?”
Edward said nothing.
Elizabeth answered.
“Your uncle.”
Edward's carefully constructed world began to collapse.
Adrian looked at Marissa.
“We were never strangers.”
“No.”
“We were family.”
Marissa nodded.
