Chapter 14 - The Sister in the Photograph
Clara was alive.
Her real name was Anna Bell.
She had been living quietly until Edward's men found her.
Ethan had discovered her six months before his death.
He had left Marissa a note:
“You have a sister.”
Clara called Marissa.
“I have something your father wanted you to have.”
“What?”
“The original trust.”
Marissa's heart raced.
“Where are you?”
“Briar Lake.”
Then Clara's voice changed.
“They found me.”
A gunshot shattered the window.
The call ended.
Marissa and Adrian rushed to Briar Lake.
They found Clara's abandoned car.
Blood on the driver's seat.
No body.
An envelope sat on the windshield.
Inside:
YOU FOUND YOUR SISTER.
NOW FIND OUT WHO HAS BEEN PROTECTING HER.
Edward called an hour later.
“Midnight.”
“Where?”
“Whitmore Tower.”
Marissa answered:
“Why?”
Edward laughed.
“Because you and Adrian still think you're the only two heirs.”
