Chapter 17 - The Final Court Hearing

The final hearing began on a rainy morning.
The courthouse was packed.
Family members.
Lawyers.
Reporters.
Everyone wanted to know how a mother and son ended up fighting over property, money, and betrayal.
Teresa entered wearing a professional suit.
She looked calm.
Almost confident.
For a moment, I saw the mother I remembered.
The woman who held my hand when I was young.
The woman who cooked dinner.
The woman who told me she loved me.
Then I remembered Amy sitting alone in the kitchen.
And the illusion disappeared.
The judge reviewed the evidence.
Forgery.
Financial fraud.
False documents.
Harassment.
Manipulation.
One by one, Teresa’s actions were presented.
But then her lawyer stood.
“We believe Mr. Bradley has been influenced by his wife.”
The courtroom became quiet.
There it was again.
The same attack.
Blame Amy.
Make her the villain.
Make Teresa the victim.
But this time, Daniel was ready.
He stood.
“Your Honor, we have evidence that proves otherwise.”
He presented recordings.
Emails.
Financial records.
Then he showed the hidden letter.
The letter Teresa wrote to Mason.
The courtroom went silent.
The judge read it carefully.
Then looked at Teresa.
“Did you write this?”
Teresa said nothing.
Her silence was the answer.
Then came the moment nobody expected.
Daniel called Michael.
My father.
He walked into the courtroom.
Teresa’s expression changed instantly.
For the first time, she looked afraid.
Michael testified about the money he contributed.
The inheritance she hid.
The years she prevented him from contacting me.
Then he said something I would never forget.
“I lost my son once because I believed her lies.”
He looked at me.
“I won’t stay silent while she tries to take him away again.”
May you like
I looked down.
Because despite everything, a part of me was still that little boy who wanted both parents to love him.
