Chapter 16 - Teresa’s Final Revenge

After discovering the letter, I thought I finally understood my mother.
I was wrong.
Because the most dangerous thing about someone who loses control is not their anger.
It is their desperation.
Teresa had spent her entire life creating a world where everyone depended on her.
She controlled information.
She controlled money.
She controlled people.
And now, for the first time, everyone knew the truth.
Her image was destroyed.
Her access to my finances was gone.
Her lies were exposed.
But Teresa had one thing left.
Revenge.
The first sign came on a Monday morning.
Amy received an email.
At first, she thought it was spam.
Then she opened it.
And her face changed.
“What is it?”
She handed me the phone.
It was a message from an unknown sender.
Attached were private photos.
Family pictures.
Documents.
Personal information.
Things only someone close to us could know.
At the bottom of the email was one sentence.
“You took my son away from me. Now I will take everything from you.”
My hands tightened around the phone.
Teresa.
She wasn’t trying to win legally anymore.
She was trying to scare us.
Daniel immediately reported the harassment.
But Teresa had planned carefully.
She wasn’t directly threatening us.
She was creating fear.
That was her specialty.
A week later, another problem appeared.
A major client of my construction company called.
“Connor, we need to discuss something.”
His voice sounded uncomfortable.
“What happened?”
“We received documents claiming your company is involved in a family ownership dispute.”
My stomach dropped.
Someone was spreading rumors.
Teresa wasn’t attacking my house anymore.
She was attacking my reputation.
My business.
My future.
Everything I had built.
That night, I sat in my office staring at the walls.
For years, I thought success meant creating something no one could take away.
But Teresa proved something terrifying.
The people closest to you can sometimes know exactly where to strike.
Amy walked in.
She placed her hand on my shoulder.
“Don’t let her make you become someone you’re not.”
I looked at her.
“What if she destroys everything?”
Amy shook her head.
May you like
“She already tried.”
“She failed.”
