Chapter 14 - The Wine Stain

Investigators tested the wine Camille had deliberately
caused Nora to spill.
The results changed the case.
The glass contained traces of the same sedative found in Evelyn’s bloodstream eighteen years earlier.
The drink had never been intended for Camille.
It was meant for Harrison.
Grant had placed it on Nora’s tray moments before the collision.
Camille’s cruel attempt to humiliate Nora had accidentally stopped Harrison from drinking it.
A guest’s phone video showed Grant switching the champagne glasses.
Nora was released immediately.
Police tracked Grant toward the Canadian border.
He was arrested before crossing.
Under interrogation, he confessed that Martin ordered Harrison poisoned.
“Why?”
“Because Harrison was going to talk.”
“Who was Martin protecting?” Lucas asked.
Grant hesitated.
Then answered.
“Arthur.”
Martin Blackwood was not the top of the conspiracy.
Arthur Sterling had secretly remained involved for years.
Lucas returned to Nora.
“We can end this.”
Nora looked at him.
“No.”
Lucas frowned.
“We can start ending it.”
She had learned enough about the Sterlings to know one confession would never be the whole truth.

So they decided not to chase Arthur.
They would make Arthur come to them.
