Chapter 1 - The Wedding Toast That Changed Everything

The ballroom of the Grand Aurelia Hotel had never looked more beautiful.

Crystal chandeliers poured golden light over hundreds of guests.

White roses covered every table.

A live orchestra played softly in the corner.

Every detail had been carefully chosen to create the image of a perfect beginning.

Ricardo Valente stood beside his new wife, Juliana, smiling for the cameras.

To everyone watching, they were the definition of success.

A powerful businessman.

A beautiful bride.

A luxurious wedding surrounded by influential friends.

A love story that seemed impossible to break.

But beneath Ricardo’s calm expression was a feeling he could not explain.

Something felt wrong.

He had spent months convincing himself that the past was gone.

That the mistakes he had made years ago belonged to another version of himself.

Tonight was supposed to prove that.

Tonight was supposed to be the day he finally moved forward.

Juliana lifted her champagne glass.

The room slowly became quiet.

Everyone turned toward her.

“My husband and I have waited a long time for this moment,” she said with a charming smile.

The guests smiled.

Some raised their glasses.

Ricardo placed a hand gently around her waist.

But then Juliana’s expression changed.

It was subtle.

Almost invisible.

A small shift from happiness to something colder.

“There is one thing I think everyone should know,” she continued.

Ricardo’s smile disappeared slightly.

He knew that tone.

“Juliana…”

She ignored him.

“Every love story has a past.”

The room became quieter.

“And Ricardo’s past is… interesting.”

Several guests exchanged curious looks.

Juliana walked slowly across the stage.

She looked directly at Ricardo.

“Before me, there was another woman.”

A whisper moved through the crowd.

Ricardo’s jaw tightened.

“Her name was Beatriz.”

The name alone changed the atmosphere.

Many of the older guests knew exactly who she was.

The woman Ricardo had once promised forever.

The woman who disappeared from his life years ago.

Juliana smiled.

“People always wondered why their marriage ended.”

Ricardo stepped forward.

“That’s enough.”

But Juliana continued.

“Some people said Beatriz left because she could never give Ricardo the family he wanted.”

Silence.

Complete silence.

The orchestra stopped playing.

The guests looked uncomfortable.

Ricardo’s face turned pale.

“Juliana, stop.”

But she looked pleased.

“Isn’t it strange?” she asked the room.

“How someone can spend years pretending to be innocent while hiding the truth?”

Ricardo stared at her.

He could not believe what was happening.

This was supposed to be their wedding.

Their celebration.

Not a public execution.

“You promised me you would never bring this up,” he whispered.

Juliana leaned closer.

“And you promised me you had nothing left to hide.”

Before Ricardo could answer, a loud sound interrupted them.

The main doors opened.

Everyone turned.

A cold breeze entered the ballroom.

The entire room froze.

Standing at the entrance was a woman wearing a simple but elegant black dress.

Her hair was neatly tied back.

Her expression was calm.

Almost too calm.

Ricardo stopped breathing.

“Beatriz…”

Her name escaped his lips like a confession.

The guests stared.

The woman everyone thought had disappeared was standing right there.

Alive.

Confident.

Different.

But she was not alone.

Behind her stood three children.

A boy and two girls.

The oldest boy looked around ten years old.

The younger girls held each other’s hands.

They looked nervous.

But they also looked familiar.

Too familiar.

The guests slowly began noticing the details.

The shape of their eyes.

The expression on their faces.

The resemblance to Ricardo.

Someone whispered:

“Oh my God…”

Another guest covered her mouth.

Ricardo looked at the children.

Then at Beatriz.

His entire world seemed to collapse.

Juliana noticed the reaction.

For the first time that night, her confidence disappeared.

“Who are they?” someone asked.

Beatriz walked forward.

Every step echoed through the silent ballroom.

She stopped in front of Ricardo.

“You wanted everyone to know the truth tonight.”

Her voice was calm.

“So let them know everything.”

Ricardo looked at her with fear.

“Beatriz…”

She looked at the three children.

Then back at him.

“These are your children.”

The ballroom exploded with whispers.

Guests stood from their seats.

Cameras lifted.

Juliana’s champagne glass slipped from her hand.

It shattered on the marble floor.

Ricardo felt as if the air had disappeared.

May you like

Because the secret he had buried for years had just walked into his wedding.

And it had brought proof with it.
