Chapter 7 - Forty-Seven Missing Minutes
The hotel security archive showed my mother leaving Solmere at 10:13 p.m.
Her crash occurred at 11:08.
The drive should have taken twenty-eight minutes.
Twenty-seven minutes were unexplained.
Then our investigator found something worse.
Forty-seven minutes of footage from three traffic cameras had disappeared from the city archive.
Not corrupted.
Deleted.
The deletion credentials belonged to a former Solmere security consultant named Richard Sloan.
One of the names in my mother’s ledger.
We found Sloan living in Vermont.
He refused to speak to us.
Samuel sent a subpoena.
Sloan vanished the next morning.
Inside his abandoned house, investigators found nothing except a burned laptop and a photograph.
The photograph showed my mother standing beside her car at a gas station.
Time stamp:
10:42 p.m.
A second vehicle was parked behind her.
