Chapter 14 - Blood Is Not Loyalty

Julian met me in my mother’s suite.
He looked exhausted.
“I got involved because I owed money.”
“How much?”
“Eight million.”
I laughed bitterly.
“You helped them steal billions because you owed eight?”
“They promised it would only be financial.”
“And when Mom died?”
His eyes filled.
“I tried to get out.”
“But you didn’t.”
“No.”
He offered forty-seven million through a private family trust.
Exactly what we needed.
Samuel warned me.
I accepted anyway.
The funds never arrived.
Instead, Julian used our meeting to photograph the blue ledger.
By morning, Marcus knew exactly what evidence we possessed.
Worse, Julian transferred his five percent proxy interest to Winter Harbor.
Marcus gained enough votes to challenge my control while the forged renunciation remained under litigation.
Samuel entered my office holding the court filing.
“He’s seeking emergency control.”
“On what grounds?”
“That you’re endangering the company.”
The hearing was scheduled for the next morning.
Julian had not saved Solmere.
May you like
He had sold us out.
Again.
