CHAPTER 15-THE NIGHT EVERYTHING COLLAPSED

The room became silent.
Not the peaceful kind of silence.
The kind that came before something broke.
Someone had betrayed them.
Again.
Alexander’s words remained hanging in the air.
“Someone inside this room just sent Daniel our location.”
Nobody moved.
Nobody spoke.
Because every person understood what that meant.
The enemy was not watching from a distance.
The enemy was standing beside them.
Khloe looked around slowly.
The faces she had spent the last hours studying.
Marcus.
Her husband.
The man who loved her but hid years of secrets.
Claire.
Her mother.
The woman who returned after twenty years but still carried unanswered questions.
Isabella.
The woman who attacked her but might have been trying to expose a bigger danger.
Alexander.
The man who protected Marcus for years.
The man who had guided them toward the truth.
And now…
One of them had betrayed them.
Marcus immediately moved closer to Khloe.
“No one leaves.”
His voice was cold.
The billionaire was back.
Not the broken son.
Not the guilty husband.
The man who knew how to take control.
Alexander nodded.
“I already locked down the floor.”
Khloe noticed something.
“Wait.”
Everyone looked at her.
“You said someone sent our location.”
Alexander nodded.
“Yes.”
“Through what system?”
Alexander hesitated.
“The hospital network.”
Khloe looked at him.
“Not the Thorne system?”
“No.”
“Not company security?”
“No.”
“Then how would anyone inside this room access it?”
The question changed everything.
Alexander looked down.
Because he realized what she realized.
The betrayal did not necessarily come from someone physically inside.
It could have come from someone who had access before.
Someone who had prepared this.
Khloe looked at Marcus.
“Who has access to this hospital?”
Marcus answered immediately.
“My family.”
“Who?”
“Me.”
“Alexander.”
“My father.”
“Daniel.”
“Your father?”
Marcus looked at Claire.
“Yes.”
Claire’s face changed.
“That’s impossible.”
“Why?”
“Because Richard never trusted hospitals.”
Marcus frowned.
“What?”
Claire looked worried.
“He never put his personal systems near medical facilities.”
“Then how did someone access it?”
Nobody answered.
Until Isabella spoke.
“Because they didn’t access it.”
Everyone turned.
“What do you mean?”
Isabella looked at Alexander.
“They were already inside.”
The room became colder.
Marcus narrowed his eyes.
“Explain.”
“The person who sent the location…”
Isabella said slowly.
“Didn’t break into the system.”
“They used a permission that already existed.”
Alexander’s face changed.
“An internal authorization.”
“Yes.”
“Which means…”
Marcus looked at him.
“Someone trusted.”
Nobody spoke.
Then the hospital lights flickered again.
Once.
Twice.
Then the entire floor went dark.
Khloe immediately felt Marcus’s hand grab hers.
“Stay behind me.”
She wanted to argue.
But this time she didn’t.
Not because she was weak.
Because she understood something.
Marcus wasn’t trying to control her.
He was trying to stand beside her.
A sound echoed from the hallway.
Footsteps.
Multiple.
Slow.
Controlled.
Security.
No.
Not hospital security.
Too organized.
Too quiet.
Alexander moved toward the door.
Marcus stopped him.
“Wait.”
Everyone froze.
Because Marcus had noticed something.
The footsteps stopped.
Right outside their room.
Then a voice came through the door.
“Marcus.”
Everyone recognized it.
Daniel.
Marcus’s expression changed.
“What do you want?”
Daniel laughed softly.
“Still protecting everyone.”
A pause.
“You never learned.”
Marcus stepped forward.
“You kidnapped Sofia.”
“No.”
Daniel replied.
“I saved Sofia.”
Isabella immediately moved toward the door.
“Liar.”
Daniel ignored her.
“Isabella Rossi.”
His voice became colder.
“You always were emotional.”
“You ruined everything because you couldn’t let go of the past.”
Isabella’s face changed.
“You used me.”
“Yes.”
The answer was immediate.
Honest.
Cruel.
“You were useful.”
Isabella went silent.
Khloe saw it.
The pain.
Not from being insulted.
From realizing she had been manipulated.
Daniel continued.
“Open the door.”
Marcus laughed.
“You think I’m that stupid?”
“No.”
Daniel replied.
“That’s why I brought something else.”
A screen in the room suddenly turned on.
A live video appeared.
Sofia.
Again.
But this time…
She was not alone.
A man stood beside her.
Older.
Gray hair.
Calm expression.
Richard Thorne.
Alive.
Marcus froze.
“No.”
Daniel smiled through the screen.
“Family reunion.”
Khloe felt cold.
Because now she understood.
Richard had not returned to stop Daniel.
Richard and Daniel were working together.
Marcus stared at the screen.
“You lied.”
Richard looked at his son.
“About what?”
“You were never against him.”
Richard smiled.
“You still think in simple terms.”
“What?”
“Good people.”
“Bad people.”
“Victims.”
“Enemies.”
Richard shook his head.
“The world is not that simple.”
Marcus’s expression hardened.
“No.”
“It is.”
Richard leaned closer.
“You were always the emotional one.”
“You believed love mattered.”
“You believed loyalty mattered.”
“But Daniel understands what you refused to accept.”
“And what is that?”
Richard smiled.
“Power belongs to those willing to sacrifice.”
Khloe felt disgust.
Because she finally understood.
The two men were different versions of the same darkness.
Daniel continued.
“The deadline still stands.”
Marcus looked at him.
“Why do you need Khloe?”
Daniel smiled.
“Because she is the last piece.”
“The only person who can open the vault.”
Marcus looked at Khloe.
Daniel continued.
“And because she has something else.”
Khloe froze.
“What?”
Daniel looked directly into the camera.
“Your mother never told you everything.”
Claire stepped forward.
“Enough.”
Daniel laughed.
“Claire.”
“Still pretending you’re innocent.”
Khloe looked at her mother.
“What is he talking about?”
Claire said nothing.
That silence was enough.
Khloe’s heart sank.
“Mom.”
Claire looked at her.
“I wanted to tell you.”
“But you didn’t.”
A painful pause.
“Because I was afraid.”
Khloe shook her head.
“Everyone is afraid.”
“That’s the excuse everyone uses.”
She looked around.
“Everyone lies because they are afraid.”
“And I am the one who pays for it.”
Marcus stepped toward her.
“Khloe.”
“No.”
She stopped him.
“Not now.”
Her voice was quiet.
But broken.
“I need the truth.”
Claire closed her eyes.
Then finally spoke.
“When you were born…”
Everyone became silent.
“Richard discovered something.”
“What?”
Claire looked at Khloe.
“You were not just the heir.”
“You were the proof.”
Khloe frowned.
“Proof of what?”
Claire looked at Marcus.
Then at Daniel.
Then whispered:
“That Richard Thorne was never the founder of the empire.”
A silence.
“He stole it.”
Marcus froze.
“What?”
Claire continued.
“The original Thorne fortune…”
“Did not belong to Richard.”
“It belonged to someone else.”
Khloe stared.
“Who?”
Claire looked at her daughter.
“Your grandfather.”
Nobody spoke.
Then Claire revealed the final secret.
“Richard didn’t build the empire.”
“He inherited it.”
“And then he erased everyone who could prove it.”
The screen went black.
Daniel had cut the connection.
The door remained locked.
But the damage was done.
Because for the first time…
Marcus realized the truth.
His entire family empire was built on a lie.
And Khloe was the person who could expose it.
But before anyone could process it…
Alexander suddenly grabbed his chest.
He fell to his knees.
Everyone rushed toward him.
“Alexander!”
His breathing became difficult.
Khloe looked down.
And saw something in his hand.
A small device.
A recording chip.
Alexander looked at Marcus.
His voice barely audible.
“I’m sorry.”
Marcus froze.
“For what?”
Alexander looked at Khloe.
“Because I was the one who sent the location.”
The room went completely silent.
Khloe stepped back.
Marcus stared.
“No.”
Alexander closed his eyes.
“I had no choice.”
May you like
Then he whispered:
“Because Daniel has my daughter.”
