Chapter 18 - THE FINAL CONFRONTATION

As the Federal Marshals placed handcuffs on Arthur Sterling and Margaret Vance, Vanessa snapped.
Realizing her entire world was crumbling into dust, she sprinted toward Emily at the edge of the stage, her nails extended like claws.
"You ruined everything!" Vanessa shrieked, lunging at Emily. "You dirty little maid! You stole my life!"
Emily didn't flinch. She didn't back away.
As Vanessa reached her, Emily stepped calmly to the side, caught Vanessa’s wrist, and used her momentum to send Vanessa crashing onto the carpeted floor of the stage—the exact same way Vanessa had knocked her down two nights ago.
Vanessa lay on the floor, her expensive dress ruined, weeping hysterically as news cameras zoomed in on her face, capturing her total humiliation for millions of viewers across the country.
Emily leaned down, looking at Vanessa with neither anger nor hatred, but pure, cold indifference.
"You stole my father's legacy, Vanessa," Emily said softly, her voice carrying over the quiet room. "I just took back what belonged to us."
Two female officers pulled Vanessa to her feet, slapping handcuffs on her wrists and leading her away alongside her father and Margaret.
The ballroom was in absolute chaos. Reporters were shouting questions, camera lights were flashing non-stop, and political donors were fleeing the room in disgrace.
Daniel stepped up to the podium microphone, looking out at the sea of journalists.
"Fifteen years ago," Daniel announced clearly, "a good man named Benjamin Reed was falsely accused of a crime he did not commit. Today, the United States Federal Court has officially cleared his name. All assets stolen from the Reed family will be fully restored to his rightful heir... Emily Reed."
Daniel turned toward Emily, extending his hand.
Emily walked up to the podium, standing beside him under the flashing lights. For the first time in fifteen years, she wasn't hiding. She wasn't running.

She was free.
