CHAPTER 11 — THE OTHER HEIR WHO WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO EXIST

The photograph sat on Vincent Moretti’s desk.

A small piece of paper.

A few handwritten words.

And yet…

It carried the weight of a war.

“You found the wrong daughter.”

Vincent had faced enemies with armies.

He had survived betrayals from people he trusted.

He had watched powerful men fall because they underestimated him.

But this was different.

Because the person holding the knife wasn't standing across from him.

She was family.

Lena stood in the doorway.

She saw Vincent’s expression.

And immediately knew.

Something was wrong.

“What happened?”

Vincent didn't answer.

Not because he wanted to hide the truth.

Because he was trying to understand it himself.

Finally, he turned the photograph around.

Lena picked it up.

Her fingers froze.

The picture showed a young Isabella Moretti.

Her birth mother.

Standing beside a child.

But that wasn't the shocking part.

The shocking part was…

The child wasn't Lena.

At least…

Not the Lena she knew.

“Who is that?”

Her voice was quiet.

Vincent stared at the photograph.

“I don't know.”

But he knew that was a lie.

Because the symbol around the child's neck was familiar.

The same Moretti crest.

The same one Lena carried.

The same symbol that connected her to a family she never knew existed.

Marco entered the room.

He immediately sensed the tension.

“Boss?”

Vincent handed him the photograph.

Marco studied it.

His expression changed.

“That's impossible.”

Lena looked at him.

“Why?”

Marco hesitated.

Then looked at Vincent.

“Because there was only supposed to be one child.”

Silence.

Lena looked between them.

“One child?”

Vincent finally spoke.

“According to the records.”

He looked at the photograph.

“But someone changed the records.”

For decades, the Moretti family believed the story was simple.

Isabella Moretti had one child.

A daughter.

Lena.

The daughter hidden away.

The heir erased.

But now…

A second child existed.

A child nobody knew about.

A child someone had worked very hard to hide.

That night, Vincent returned to the family archives.

Again.

But this time, he wasn't searching for Lena.

He was searching for the person who had been erased after her.

The second missing piece of the Moretti bloodline.

Hours passed.

Then Marco found something.

“Boss.”

Vincent turned.

Marco held an old medical file.

“Look at this.”

Vincent took it.

The record was from the same hospital where Lena was born.

But there was something strange.

The file had been sealed.

Not by the hospital.

By the Moretti family.

Vincent opened it.

Inside was a single sentence:

“Two children were born. Only one was allowed to leave.”

The room became silent.

Marco whispered:

“Twins?”

Vincent stared at the document.

Twins.

Two children.

Two heirs.

One family secret.

Across the city, Victoria Moretti sat alone.

She knew Vincent had found the photograph.

She knew he would eventually discover the truth.

And she was ready.

Because Victoria had spent twenty-nine years preparing for this moment.

Daniel walked into the room.

“You look happy.”

Victoria smiled.

“I am.”

“Why?”

“Because Vincent finally found the truth.”

Daniel frowned.

“I thought the truth would hurt him.”

“It will.”

She looked at him.

“But not the way you think.”

“Who is the other heir?”

Daniel asked.

Victoria remained silent.

Then she opened a drawer.

Inside was another photograph.

A child.

Older than Lena.

With the same eyes.

The same Moretti blood.

Daniel stared.

“Who is that?”

Victoria whispered:

“The child our father chose.”

Daniel looked confused.

“But I thought Lena was the heir.”

Victoria smiled.

“That was Isabella's choice.”

A pause.

“This was our father's.”

Twenty-nine years earlier…

When Isabella gave birth, she made a decision.

She wanted both children protected.

But her husband saw things differently.

He believed the family needed one successor.

One weapon.

One person strong enough to carry the Moretti name.

So he chose.

And the child he chose…

Was not Lena.

Back at the safe house, Lena couldn't sleep.

Too many questions.

Too many secrets.

She had spent her entire life searching for where she belonged.

Now she had found a family.

And discovered that family was full of lies.

Vincent found her sitting outside.

“You should rest.”

She smiled faintly.

“You say that every time.”

“Because you never listen.”

This time, she laughed.

A small, genuine laugh.

Then she became serious.

“Do you know who they are?”

Vincent sat beside her.

“The other heir?”

She nodded.

“No.”

A pause.

“But I will.”

Lena looked at the city.

“Do you ever wish you never found me?”

Vincent immediately answered.

“No.”

The speed of his response surprised her.

“You didn't even think.”

“I don't need to.”

She looked at him.

“Why?”

Vincent looked away.

Because the truth was becoming impossible to ignore.

Because somewhere between saving her and protecting her…

Something had changed.

“You remind me of who I was before this life.”

Lena was quiet.

“And who were you?”

Vincent looked at the lights.

“Someone who still believed people could be good.”

The next morning…

The answer arrived.

Not from Vincent.

Not from Victoria.

From the person nobody expected.

Daniel.

He appeared outside the Moretti estate.

Security immediately stopped him.

But he wasn't there to fight.

He carried a folder.

And he looked terrified.

“I need to speak with Vincent.”

The guards refused.

Daniel raised the folder.

“Tell him this.”

A pause.

“I know who the other heir is.”

Minutes later, Vincent stood face-to-face with the man who had destroyed Lena's life.

Daniel looked different.

Not powerful.

Not arrogant.

Afraid.

“What do you know?”

Daniel swallowed.

“The other heir…”

He opened the folder.

And handed Vincent the documents.

Vincent read the first page.

Then the second.

Then stopped.

Because the name written there was impossible.

A name connected to the darkest chapter of the Moretti family.

A name Vincent thought was buried forever.

Lena watched from inside.

She saw Vincent’s face.

And she knew.

Whatever he had discovered…

It was worse than anything before.

Vincent slowly closed the folder.

Then whispered:

“The other heir…”

A pause.

“Is alive.”

But the final line in the document was what truly terrified him.

May you like

Because underneath the heir's identity was a warning:

“If Vincent Moretti discovers the truth, the second heir will have no choice but to destroy him.”
