Chapter 12 - The Hidden Letter

After Ethan revealed Vivian’s plan, Graham finally admitted another secret.
A secret he had buried for years.
Before Emily died, she had left him a letter.
But he never opened it.
Not immediately.
He was too broken.
Too angry.
Too afraid.
The letter remained hidden in a locked drawer.
Until now.
Natalie watched as Graham placed it on the table.
The envelope was old.
The handwriting was familiar.
Emily’s handwriting.
The woman who had loved Graham.
The woman who had been Maisie’s mother.
Graham’s hands shook.
“I should have read this years ago.”
Natalie said nothing.
Because she knew this moment belonged to him.
He opened the letter.
Inside were only two pages.
But those words changed everything.
Emily had written about Vivian.
She had discovered that Vivian was not a stranger.
She was connected to someone from her past.
Someone who wanted revenge.
Someone who believed the Whitmore family destroyed his life.
At the bottom of the letter was a name.
Marcus Vale.
Detective Reyes immediately searched the database.
The result shocked everyone.
Marcus Vale.
A former business partner of Graham’s father.
A man who lost everything after a company scandal.
A man who blamed the Whitmore family.
A man who vanished years ago.
Natalie looked at Graham.
“You knew him?”
Graham nodded slowly.
“He was my father’s partner.”
“What happened?”
Graham looked down.
“My father accused him of stealing.”
“And?”
“He denied it.”
The room went quiet.
“Was he guilty?”
Graham didn’t answer.
Because he didn’t know.
And that was the problem.
The Whitmore family had spent years believing their own version of the story.
Now they were discovering another side.
That night, Maisie asked Natalie something unexpected.
“Is my dad a bad person?”
Natalie froze.
“No.”
Maisie looked down.
“But he didn’t listen.”
Natalie sat beside her.
“That doesn’t make him bad.”
“What does it make him?”
Natalie thought carefully.
“It makes him someone who made a mistake.”
Maisie was quiet.
Then she whispered:
“I don’t want to disappear again.”
Natalie hugged her.
“You won’t.”

But neither of them knew…
Someone was already watching the house.
