Chapter 11 - The Man Who Knew Vivian’s Secret

The anonymous phone call changed everything.

For weeks, Natalie believed they were fighting one enemy.

Vivian.

A woman who manipulated.

A woman who lied.

A woman who almost destroyed a little girl’s life.

But now there was another possibility.

Someone had helped her.

The next morning, Natalie met Detective Reyes in a quiet coffee shop.

She played the recording of the call.

The detective listened carefully.

When it ended, her expression changed.

“You recognize that voice?”

Natalie shook her head.

“No.”

“But he knows Vivian.”

“Yes.”

Detective Reyes looked through her notes.

“Then we find him.”

The search began with Vivian’s old connections.

Former employers.

Friends.

Neighbors.

People from her past.

That was when they discovered a name.

Ethan Cole.

A private investigator who had worked for Vivian three years earlier.

But there was something strange.

He had disappeared shortly after.

Natalie looked at the file.

“Why would a private investigator disappear?”

Detective Reyes answered quietly.

“Because sometimes investigators find things they were never supposed to find.”

They tracked Ethan to a small town two hours away.

He was living under a different name.

When Natalie saw him, she immediately understood.

He looked terrified.

Not guilty.

Afraid.

“I knew this day would come,” Ethan said.

Natalie stepped forward.

“You called me.”

He nodded.

“I waited until Maisie was safe.”

“Why?”

Ethan looked away.

“Because Vivian wasn’t supposed to marry Graham.”

Natalie felt her stomach tighten.

“What was she supposed to do?”

Ethan took a deep breath.

“Destroy his family.”

The room became silent.

He explained everything.

Years earlier, Vivian had hired him to investigate Graham.

At first, he thought it was a normal background check.

Then he discovered something disturbing.

Vivian already knew everything.

She knew about Graham’s daughter.

She knew about his wife.

She knew about the company.

She knew exactly what she wanted.

“She studied him like a target,” Ethan said.

Natalie felt cold.

“But why?”

Ethan looked at her.

“Because Graham had something she believed belonged to her.”

“What?”

“The Whitmore inheritance.”

Natalie shook her head.

“She wanted money?”

“No.”

Ethan paused.

“She wanted power.”
