Chapter 3 – Learning to Listen

Alexander canceled three board meetings the following week.

His executives thought he was preparing for another acquisition.

Instead...

He hired two Deaf educators.

An ASL interpreter.

And enrolled himself in evening sign-language classes.

The first lesson was humiliating.

His hands felt stiff.

His movements were awkward.

Matthew watched silently.

Alexander signed only two words.

"I'm trying."

Matthew didn't answer immediately.

Then he corrected his father's handshape.

Again.

Again.

Again.

The lessons continued for months.

Sometimes father and son laughed over mistakes.

Sometimes neither signed much at all.

But for the first time...

They were learning the same language.

May you like

Not English.

Trust.
