The formal dining room transformed into a meeting space for legal aid volunteers.
The kitchen where I had once been humiliated now filled with laughter every Saturday morning as families shared breakfast together.
One rainy afternoon, Richard stopped by after finalizing the last legal documents.
"It's over," he said.
I signed the final page.
The divorce was official.
Outside, the rain slowly faded.
Sunlight broke through the clouds.
Richard smiled.
"You know... everyone keeps asking why you hid who you really were."
I looked across the garden.
"If he had loved my money..."
