A year after the gala, another invitation arrived.
This one had my name alone.
The National Business Leadership Awards wanted me to speak about ethical leadership and corporate governance.
Standing on the stage, I looked across hundreds of entrepreneurs.
Some knew my story.
Most only knew the headlines.
I smiled before beginning.
"People often ask whether revenge was worth it."
The audience waited.
"My answer surprises them."
"I wasn't seeking revenge."

The room rose in applause.
Later that evening, I returned to Montauk.
The sun disappeared beyond the Atlantic.
I stood on the porch where my parents once watched every summer sunset together.
