Chapter 2 — The Man Everyone Feared

Victor recovered faster than I expected.

"You think a video changes anything?" he sneered. "Half the people in this room owe me money."

No one answered him.

Not because they agreed.

Because another set of doors opened.

My father walked in.

Richard Ashcroft.

The man whose face almost never appeared in magazines because he preferred buying companies instead of giving interviews.

His gray suit carried no designer logo.

It didn't need one.

Real power never introduced itself.

Every billionaire in the room knew exactly who he was.

Several executives actually stepped backward.

Victor's face lost its color.

"...Mr. Ashcroft."

My father ignored him completely.

He walked straight toward me.

His eyes found the bruise beneath mine.

His fingers gently brushed the torn fabric on my sleeve.

"You've been hurt."

It wasn't a question.

I nodded once.

His jaw tightened.

Then he turned toward Victor.

"I spent thirty years building an empire," my father said calmly.

"I can rebuild buildings."

"I can rebuild companies."

"But you touched my daughter."

His voice never rose.

It didn't have to.

The room understood exactly what that meant.

Within minutes, lawyers entered.

Police detectives followed.

And every contract Victor had hidden behind years of intimidation began collapsing in real time.
