CHAPTER 2 — A Secret Hidden for Years

The ambulance rushed toward St. Gabriel Medical Center.

Doctors immediately surrounded the pregnant woman.

Her husband refused to leave her side.

Hours later...

A physician stepped into the waiting room.

"The baby is alive."

Relief swept across his face.

"But..."

The doctor's expression remained serious.

"The amount of stress she endured nearly caused premature labor."

"If you had arrived even a little later..."

He couldn't finish the sentence.

The husband closed his eyes.

For the first time in years...

He blamed himself.

He had promised to protect her.

Yet she had suffered inside his own home.

When he returned to the mansion that evening, he ordered every employee into the grand hall.

"No one here is losing a job for telling the truth."

"But anyone who stayed silent while my wife was abused..."

"...will never work for me again."

One elderly maid stepped forward with trembling hands.

"There is something you deserve to know."

She handed him a worn envelope.

"I've been keeping this for almost three years."

Inside were medical reports...

Bank transfers...

And handwritten letters.

Every document pointed to the same person.

The woman in the red dress hadn't acted alone.
