Khloe's injuries were painful but not life-threatening.
The baby, by some miracle, remained healthy.
Marcus stayed outside the maternity ward all night.
He refused interviews.
Ignored board members.
Canceled every business meeting.
Just before sunrise, Dr. Bennett approached him.
"You almost lost both of them."
Marcus nodded without speaking.
"You know what hurts her most?"
Marcus looked up.
"It wasn't Isabella."
"It was you."
Those words landed harder than any accusation.
Later that morning, Khloe finally allowed Marcus into her room.
She looked exhausted.
He looked even worse.
"I don't deserve forgiveness," he admitted.
"No."
"You warned me."
"I did."
"I chose not to listen."
"You did."
Every answer was calm.
Simple.
Honest.
Marcus lowered his head.
"I believed someone who admired my success more than the woman who stood beside me before I had any of it."
Tears filled his eyes.
"I failed you."
Khloe remained silent for a long moment.
"When I married you," she finally said, "I didn't need your billions."
"I know."
"I needed a husband who believed me."
Marcus couldn't answer.
Because she was right.
She always had been.
When he left the room, he made three phone calls.
The first was to his attorneys.
File for divorce from every business partnership involving Isabella.
The second was to his board.
Suspend every executive who helped conceal her misconduct.
The third was to the police.
"I'll cooperate completely."
