Chapter 2 – The Footage Never Lies

Chapter 2 – The Footage Never Lies
The hospital room remained silent except for the rapid beeping of the fetal monitor.
Marcus didn't move.
His thumb hovered over the message on his phone.
Sir. We've recovered the surveillance footage from the suite. You need to watch it immediately.
Before he could respond, Dr. Adrian Bennett, the hospital director, crossed the room in three determined strides.
"Move away from her," he ordered Isabella without looking up.
His entire focus was on Khloe.
He knelt beside her, gently examining the bruise already darkening along her ribs.
"Khloe," he said softly, "look at me."
She opened her eyes.
"My baby..."
"We're checking the baby now."
Nurses rushed into the suite with a portable ultrasound machine while the security officers quietly positioned themselves near the door.
Isabella finally found her voice.
"This is ridiculous," she snapped. "She slipped."
Dr. Bennett slowly stood.
Only then did Marcus hear the sentence that made everything inside him stop.
"My niece didn't slip."
Marcus looked sharply at him.
"Niece?"
Dr. Bennett met his eyes.
"I've kept our relationship private because Khloe asked me to. She never wanted anyone questioning whether she earned her place in life."
Marcus stared at his wife.
Seven years of marriage.
And he had never known.
Not because she had lied.
Because he had never cared enough to ask.
A security officer stepped forward carrying a tablet.
"Mr. Thorne."
Marcus accepted it.
The surveillance footage began.
The video showed Isabella entering the suite alone.
Then...
The argument.
The threats.
Khloe backing away.
The violent shove.
The kick to her side.
Every second captured in perfect clarity.
No missing angles.
No excuses.
No misunderstandings.
When the recording ended, Marcus's hands were shaking.
He slowly looked toward Isabella.
She had already realized there was no escape.
"It wasn't supposed to happen like that," she whispered.
Marcus's voice was barely audible.
"You tried to kill my wife."
"I loved you!"
"You loved my money."
Security stepped forward.
Dr. Bennett spoke calmly.
"Ms. Rossi, you're under hospital detention until city police arrive."
As the officers placed handcuffs around Isabella's wrists, she screamed Marcus's name.
He never looked at her again.
Instead, he walked to Khloe's bedside and gently reached for her trembling hand.
