I returned to the same ballroom.
This time there were no lies.
No secrets.
No performance.
The ballroom hosted a charity gala supporting military families rebuilding their lives after service.

The answer had taken me a year to understand.
"Never interrupt someone while they're exposing who they really are."
"The truth always finishes speaking."
The audience applauded.
Outside, the city lights reflected across the river.
I slipped off my wedding ring.
Walked to the edge of the bridge.
And released it into the water.
I didn't watch it sink.
