CHAPTER 3 – Everything They Built Collapsed

The chairman asked the hotel manager to stop the music permanently.
Then he requested the company's legal director to step forward.
A thick folder was placed on the head table.
Every document had already been prepared.
David stared in disbelief.
"What is this?"
His father looked directly at him.
"Your removal."
David laughed nervously.
"You can't be serious."
"I own part of the company."
"You own shares."
"I own the company."
The chairman's words hit like a hammer.
He opened the folder.
A unanimous board resolution.
David was removed as Executive Vice President effective immediately.
All company accounts under his control were frozen pending investigation.
His corporate credit cards were canceled.
His access badges were revoked.
Margaret screamed.
"You can't do this to my son!"
The chairman finally looked at her.
"I should have stopped your behavior years ago."
"You raised him to believe power meant cruelty."
"You failed."
Then he turned to Julia.
"I'm sorry."
"I should have protected you long ago."
Julia didn't answer.
She only looked at Mia.
Her daughter was no longer crying.
She was simply holding her mother's hand.
