Chapter 4 — Home at Last

Chapter 4 — Home at Last
Three months later...
The house sounded different.
No shouting.
No criticism.
No impossible expectations.
Only laughter.
A tiny baby boy slept peacefully against his mother's chest.
Sunlight poured through the kitchen window.
The sink was empty.
His wife smiled as she watched her husband make breakfast while softly singing to their son.
"You don't have to do everything," she laughed.
He looked up.
"I know."
"I want to."
She walked over and wrapped one arm around his waist.
"For a long time..."
"I thought love meant staying quiet."
He kissed her forehead.
"Real love speaks."
"It protects."
"It shows up."
Their son stirred.
Tiny fingers wrapped around his father's thumb.
His wife smiled through grateful tears.
"What kind of man do you think he'll become?"
He looked down at the sleeping baby.
"The kind who never lets the woman he loves carry the weight alone."
Outside, the morning sun climbed higher.
Inside, peace finally filled the home.
Not because someone had won an argument.
But because one man chose courage over comfort...

And one exhausted woman finally learned what it felt like to be cherished.
The End.
