Within seconds, security officers entered the hall.
But they weren't looking at Victoria.
They were looking directly at Chloe.
“Ms. Harrington,” the head of security said firmly. “Please stay where you are.”
“What? Why?” Chloe stammered.
The exhibition director stepped forward.
“Because we've been investigating several missing pieces from private collections.”
The crowd exchanged shocked looks.
Victoria finally spoke.
“For months, valuable artworks disappeared after events attended by the same people.”
The director nodded.
“Tonight, hidden cameras captured someone attempting to access restricted storage areas.”
Chloe’s face turned pale.
“That’s ridiculous!”
“Is it?” Victoria asked.
A security officer produced a tablet.
The footage showed Chloe entering a private hallway moments before the exhibition opened.
Then another clip appeared.
Chloe was seen photographing security codes and trying to unlock a restricted room.
The guests erupted in whispers.
“No…”
“She was planning a theft?”
“This can't be real.”
Chloe looked around desperately.
“I can explain!”
But no explanation came.
The truth was already visible to everyone.
