CHAPTER 1: THE HUMILIATION
The grand ballroom of the five-star hotel glittered beneath crystal chandeliers. Wealthy collectors, famous artists, and influential investors mingled among priceless masterpieces displayed throughout Gallery Hall A.
Victoria Sterling sat quietly in her wheelchair, wearing an elegant jade-green satin gown. Despite her calm demeanor, everyone in the art world knew her name. She was one of the most respected collectors in the country.
Across the room, Chloe Harrington watched with jealousy burning in her eyes.
“How does someone like her get all the attention?” Chloe muttered.
Unable to control her resentment, she approached Victoria with a glass of champagne in hand.
“This place is for real collectors,” Chloe sneered. “Not for someone who just sits around collecting sympathy.”
Several guests gasped.
Victoria remained silent.
Then Chloe deliberately tipped her glass.
Champagne splashed across Victoria’s expensive satin gown.
The crowd froze.
Everyone expected anger, embarrassment, or tears.
Instead, Victoria calmly adjusted her dress, touched her earpiece, and spoke softly.
“Security, come to Gallery Hall A.”
The confidence in her voice made Chloe's smile disappear.
The room fell silent.
