Evelyn was escorted into the library for questioning.
She denied everything.
Until the old housekeeper entered carrying a weathered wooden box.
"I've kept this for five years," she said.
Inside were hospital records.
Birth certificates.
Bank transfers.
Letters.
And one envelope addressed to the bride.

The detective unfolded the letter.

The room fell silent.
