“I resign.”
“From what?”

“What do you want me to say?”

“No.”
I leaned back.
“You spent four years trying to honor Elena's instructions.”
“And missed the purpose.”
“Yes.”
“I can't keep advising you.”
“Why?”
“Because guilt affects judgment.”
I almost smiled.
“At least somebody learned.”
He did resign from direct representation.
Not from my life.
That distinction mattered.
