PART 2 — THE TRUTH BENEATH THE STAIN

Elena was taken upstairs. Adrian didn’t let go of her hand once.
The doctor arrived within the hour, summoned in silence, while Victoria remained downstairs as if nothing had changed. As if the house had not just collapsed from within.
When the examination ended, the doctor’s expression was careful, controlled—but not calm.
“She’s extremely stressed,” he said. “The pregnancy is fragile. Any further trauma could be dangerous.”
Adrian’s jaw tightened.
“Was the earlier incident really an accident?” he asked.
The doctor hesitated.
That hesitation was enough.
After the doctor left, Elena finally spoke again, her voice barely above a whisper.
“It wasn’t just the messages,” she said. “She came to see me before I disappeared.”
Adrian froze.
Elena’s fingers tightened around the blanket.
“She told me I would never belong in your world,” she continued. “That I would be removed… one way or another.”
A cold silence filled the room.
“And then I fell,” Elena added, tears slipping down her face. “Down the stairs at the office building. I remember someone behind me. I remember hands—then nothing.”
Adrian felt his stomach turn.
“You’re saying she—”
“I’m saying I didn’t fall alone,” Elena whispered.
The words hit him harder than any physical blow.
Downstairs, glass shattered.
Victoria had dropped a glass of wine—or maybe thrown it.
But Adrian didn’t go to check.
For the first time in his life, he understood something terrifying:
There were people who didn’t just hurt others in anger.
May you like
They planned it.
And lived beside their victims with perfect smiles.
