Chapter 3 – The Cameras Never Blink

Chapter 3 – The Cameras Never Blink
Hospital security worked faster than Isabella expected.
Within twenty minutes, every surveillance file had been copied onto secure servers.
No one was allowed to delete anything.
No one was allowed to edit anything.
Marcus watched in silence beside the security director.
Monitor after monitor replayed the evening.
Hallway.
Elevator.
Reception.
Ballroom.
Finally—
Suite 1808.
The camera outside the door had no audio.
It didn't need any.
The footage showed Isabella entering alone.
Nearly eight minutes passed.
Then came sudden movement inside.
The suite door shook violently.
Seconds later—
Marcus and Elaine arrived.
The timing mattered.
Because only one person had been inside with Khloe before they arrived.
Security switched to another camera.
A decorative hallway mirror reflected part of the suite's interior through the open doorway.
Not perfect.
But enough.
Enough to see Isabella lunging forward.
Enough to see Khloe stumbling backward.
Enough to see the kick.
The room became completely silent.
Nobody spoke.
The security director finally whispered,
"...she assaulted a pregnant woman."
Marcus didn't blink.
"Make three copies."
"One for the police."
"One for my attorneys."
"And one that never leaves my possession."
Meanwhile—
Isabella sat alone in a luxury waiting room.
She kept refreshing her phone.
Marcus hadn't answered.
Hadn't defended her.
Hadn't even looked at her again.
Instead—
Her own lawyer called.
"Isabella..."
"What?"
"The hospital just informed us they've preserved surveillance evidence."
Her heart stopped.
"What evidence?"
The lawyer hesitated.
May you like
"...they're saying the cameras captured everything."
The phone slipped from her hand.
