PART 2: The Truth Beneath the Veil

The church remained frozen.
Guests whispered, but no one moved.
Eleanor’s hands trembled as she reached into her purse, pulling out a worn photograph—faded, creased, never replaced.
A newborn baby.
Same birthmark.
Same wrist.
She held it up with shaking fingers.
“This…” her voice cracked. “This is my daughter.”
The bride stared at the photo.
Confusion twisted into disbelief.
“I don’t understand… I grew up in an orphanage. I was told I was abandoned.”
Eleanor stepped forward, tears breaking through her control for the first time in decades.
“Name?” she whispered.
The bride hesitated. “I… I was named Clara. Clara Hayes.”
The moment that name left her lips, Eleanor collapsed into the nearest pew.
Because that was the name she had given her child before she disappeared from the hospital system.
A stolen record.
A falsified adoption file.
A cover-up buried under wealth and silence.
And suddenly, everything made sense.
The sleepless nights.
The endless search.
The enemies she had made trying to uncover the truth.
Her own son’s engagement… had led her straight back to the child she thought was gone forever.
But the truth wasn’t finished revealing itself yet.
