Chapter 1: The Letter's Secret

The silence inside the grand hotel lobby became unbearable.
Isabella’s fingers trembled as she continued reading the faded letter.
“If you are reading this, then I no longer have the strength to protect her. Twenty years ago, they told you your baby died during the fire. They lied. Your daughter survived. Her name is Valentina. I raised her in secret because powerful people wanted her gone forever.”
The words blurred through Isabella’s tears.
"No..." she whispered.
The memory of that terrible night flooded back—the flames, the smoke, the doctors telling her there was nothing they could do. She had buried an empty coffin believing her child was gone.
And now that child stood before her.
Barefoot.
Hungry.
Terrified.
Valentina lowered her eyes.
"Grandma said you would help me."
The crowd that had moments earlier mocked the little girl now watched in stunned silence.
Isabella dropped to her knees.
The expensive gown spread across the marble floor as she reached toward the child.
"Valentina..."
The girl flinched.
Years of rejection had taught her not to trust adults.
A painful sob escaped Isabella's lips.
"I'm so sorry."
For the first time in her life, the powerful businesswoman looked completely broken.
Then she noticed something else written at the bottom of the letter.
A final warning.
“Do not trust Victor Moretti. He knows the truth.”
The blood drained from Isabella's face.
Victor Moretti.
