Chapter 1: The Man at the Door

Chapter 1: The Man at the Door

The mansion fell into complete silence.

The little boy remained where he stood, one small hand pressed against his burning cheek.

No one dared move.

The man in the black suit slowly stepped inside, his polished shoes clicking against the marble floor.

His expression never changed.

Cold.

Controlled.

Unshakable.

The stepmother instinctively took a step backward.

"You..." she whispered.

The man ignored her.

Instead, he walked straight toward the child.

Only when he stood in front of the boy did his face soften.

He knelt to one knee.

"Did she hurt you?"

The little boy looked up with tear-filled hazel eyes.

For several seconds, he couldn't answer.

Then he gave the smallest nod.

The man's jaw tightened.

He gently touched the child's swollen cheek before standing once again.

Only then did he finally look at the woman.

"You laid a hand on my son."

The sentence landed harder than any scream.

The servants gasped.

The housekeeper covered her mouth.

Even the family lawyer standing near the staircase looked stunned.

The elegant woman laughed nervously.

"Your son? That's impossible."

The man calmly removed a sealed envelope from inside his jacket.

Inside was a certified DNA report.

He handed it to the lawyer without saying another word.

The lawyer adjusted his glasses as he read.

His face slowly turned white.

"The report confirms a 99.99% probability of paternity."

Every person in the room stared at the little boy.

The woman suddenly realized why the child had inherited those unmistakable blue eyes.

The same eyes now staring directly at her.
