Chapter 5 — A New Beginning

Six months later...
Spring sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Thorne estate.
A baby cried upstairs.
Marcus smiled before anyone else could move.
"I've got him."
He climbed the stairs two at a time.
Their son stretched tiny fingers toward him.
Healthy.
Strong.
Exactly what the doctors once feared might never happen.
Downstairs, Khloe watched through the nursery doorway.
The scars from that terrible night had not disappeared.
Perhaps they never would.
But they no longer defined her.
Nathan entered carrying coffee.
"The prosecutor called."
Khloe smiled knowingly.
"The verdict?"
Nathan nodded.
"Guilty on every count."
Years in prison.
No suspended sentence.
No special treatment.
Money had bought Isabella luxury.
It could not buy innocence.
Later that afternoon, Marcus stood beside Khloe in the hospital garden where everything had nearly ended.
"I used to think protecting my family meant providing for them," he said.
"I was wrong."
Khloe rested her head against his shoulder.
"It means showing up."
"It means listening."
"It means believing the people you love before it's too late."
Their son laughed from his stroller.
The sound echoed through the garden.
Bright.
Hopeful.
Alive.
Marcus kissed Khloe's forehead.
"No board meeting."
"No business deal."
"No ambition."
"Will ever matter more than the two of you."
Khloe smiled.
"This time..."
"I believe you."
Hand in hand, they walked toward the garden gate as the afternoon sun painted the path ahead in gold.
Behind them lay betrayal, fear, and the fight for justice.
Ahead of them lay something far more valuable.
May you like
Peace.
The End.
