Within an hour, hospital security handed my father the surveillance footage.
It showed everything.
Vanessa forcing her way into my room.
Threatening me.
Pulling my hair.
Attacking a pregnant woman lying helpless in a hospital bed.
The police arrived before sunset.
Vanessa's confidence disappeared the moment the officers played the recording.
"This is a misunderstanding," she whispered.

I almost laughed.

He dropped to his knees.
"I'll end everything with Vanessa."
"You already lost everything."
The divorce papers my lawyer had prepared weeks earlier landed in his hands.
He stared at the signature.

"No."
