CHAPTER 4 – THE WOMAN WHO WALKED AWAY

Six months later...
Blackwood Group officially ceased to exist.
Its remaining assets had been absorbed into Sinclair Capital.
Damian no longer appeared on magazine covers.
He rented a modest apartment on the edge of the city and quietly worked as a financial consultant for a small firm.
One rainy afternoon, he happened to pass a downtown charity gala.
Luxury cars lined the entrance.
Reporters crowded the red carpet.
At the center of it all stood Isabella.
Not as someone's wife.
Not hidden behind another name.
But as the newly appointed Chairwoman of Sinclair Capital.
She had launched scholarships for underprivileged students, funded hospitals, and created emergency business grants for struggling entrepreneurs—the kind of opportunities she once wished someone had given her family.
Their eyes met across the street.
Damian hesitated before walking over.
"I don't expect forgiveness," he said softly.
"I only wanted to say..."
"I'm sorry."
The apology carried no pride.
No excuses.
Only regret.
Isabella regarded him for a moment.
Then she smiled—not with love, but with peace.
"I believe you're sorry."
"And I hope you become someone worthy of that apology."
She extended her hand.
Not as a wife.
Not as an enemy.
But as a stranger who had finally let go.
He shook it.
For a brief second, they both remembered the people they once hoped to become.
Then Isabella stepped back.
A waiting car door opened.
She entered without looking behind her.
As the vehicle pulled away, Damian remained standing in the rain.
He finally understood that wealth could be earned again.
Power could return.
Status could be rebuilt.
But trust, once broken by cruelty and pride, rarely comes back.
Inside the limousine, Isabella glanced out at the city lights.
The empire she had built was thriving once more.
This time, however, it rested on something far stronger than money.
It rested on self-respect.

And she would never again surrender either her heart or her future to someone who mistook kindness for weakness.
The End.
