CHAPTER 3 – THE LIFE THEY COULD NEVER TAKE

Six months later...
The courthouse was silent.
Brendan accepted a plea agreement after investigators uncovered years of financial fraud and abuse of corporate authority.
Jessica disappeared from public life.
No company wanted to hire someone connected to the scandal.
Diane sold the family mansion to pay legal fees.
The Morrison name, once respected in every boardroom, became a warning instead.
As for me...
I welcomed a healthy baby girl into the world.
When I held her for the first time, I finally understood something.
Revenge had never been my real victory.
Freedom was.
Months later, Arthur walked into my office carrying a familiar folder.
"The board wants to know whether you'd like your identity to remain anonymous."
I smiled.
"No."
"It's time."
The next morning, every major business newspaper carried the same headline:
Anonymous Billionaire Chairwoman Revealed After Corporate Corruption Scandal.
I wasn't celebrated because I destroyed a family.
I was respected because I refused to become like them.
The Morrisons believed wealth made them powerful.
They were wrong.
Character is power.
Integrity is power.
And the greatest victory isn't watching the people who hurt you lose everything.
It's building a life so peaceful that their hatred can never reach you again.
As I looked out over the city with my daughter asleep in my arms, I whispered the only words that truly mattered.
May you like
"We're finally home."
