CHAPTER 3 — THE FAMILY FELL APART

Police officers entered before anyone could speak.

One officer watched the recording twice.

Then he turned toward Preston.

"Sir..."

"Please place your hands behind your back."

Preston exploded.

"This is ridiculous!"

"It was an accident!"

"No."

The hotel manager spoke first.

"You lied."

"You framed a child."

"And you assaulted her."

The handcuffs clicked shut.

The sound echoed through the ballroom like a judge's gavel.

My mother rushed forward.

"Officer, there has to be some mistake."

"My son would never—"

The officer interrupted her.

"We all watched the video."

"There is no mistake."

My father stared at the floor.

For the first time in his life...

He had no excuse left.

Guests quietly gathered their belongings.

Several business partners walked past Preston without saying a word.

His new wife stood frozen.

Then she slowly removed her wedding ring.

"I married a stranger," she whispered.

She placed the ring on the head table...

...and walked away.

Without looking back.

Within hours...

The video spread across social media.

By morning...

Every local news station had the story.

The successful businessman.

The perfect son.

The respected community leader.

Exposed as a man willing to frame his own niece...

...and attack a child to protect his pride.

Sponsors disappeared.

Clients canceled contracts.

His company suspended him indefinitely.

Everything he had built...

Collapsed in less than twenty-four hours.

Not because of rumors.

Because of the truth.
