Three days later...
Nathan stood outside Elena's office.
No luxury car.
No assistants.
No expensive suit.
Only exhaustion.
The receptionist looked at him calmly.
"Do you have an appointment?"
Nathan lowered his head.
"No."
"You'll have to wait."
He waited.
One hour.
Then two.
Finally...
The office doors opened.
Elena walked out.
She looked exactly the same.
Calm.
Elegant.
Untouchable.
Nathan stepped forward.
"I'm sorry."
She didn't answer.
"I was manipulated."
Still silence.
"I made the biggest mistake of my life."
Elena looked directly into his eyes.
"No."
She spoke softly.
"You made thousands of choices."
"Each one brought you here."
Nathan felt every word land like a stone.
"I loved you," he whispered.
She smiled sadly.
"I know."
"And that's why I stayed far longer than I should have."
Nathan reached toward her.
She stepped back.
The distance between them felt greater than the years they had shared.
Security quietly approached.
Elena shook her head.
"No."
She looked at Nathan one last time.
"You don't need to be removed."
She turned away.
