Chapter 2: The Empire Fights Back

Nathan barely reached his car before his phone exploded with calls.

One after another.

His chief financial officer.

His legal team.

His investors.

He answered the first call.

"What now?"

The voice on the other end trembled.

"Our largest investors have pulled out."

Another call interrupted.

Then another.

"The banks have frozen every pending loan."

"Our headquarters has been surrounded by auditors."

"Our board members are resigning."

Nathan's face hardened.

"This is impossible."

"It's Elena," whispered his CFO.

"Every company supporting us... belongs to her."

Silence.

Nathan slowly lowered the phone.

For the first time in his life...

He realized he had never truly known his wife.

Meanwhile...

Elena sat alone in the executive office on the top floor of a downtown skyscraper.

Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the city she had quietly helped build.

Executives filled the conference room.

None of them questioned her authority.

She signed document after document.

Each signature erased another piece of Nathan's empire.

Not out of revenge.

Out of necessity.

"He forged contracts," one attorney reported.

"He diverted company funds," said another.

"He transferred assets into shell corporations."

Elena closed the file.

"For years I protected him."

She looked around the room.

"I won't protect him anymore."

Every executive nodded.

Within hours...

Government investigators arrived.

Nathan's business empire officially collapsed.

And Vanessa?

She disappeared before sunset.
