Chapter 5 — Justice Echoes Longer Than Power

One year later...
Grant Holloway stood inside a federal courtroom wearing a prison uniform.
The jury found him guilty on every major count.
Aggravated assault.
Conspiracy.
Interstate art trafficking.
Racketeering.
Witness intimidation.
Fraud.
The sentence was longer than anyone expected.
As deputies escorted him away, Grant turned toward Mara one last time.
"You destroyed everything."
Mara calmly met his eyes.
"No."
"You built it."
"I simply turned on the lights."
Months later, the Hawthorne Museum reopened.
Not as a playground for billionaires.
But as the National Center for Cultural Justice.
Every recovered artifact was returned to its rightful country.
Every gallery displayed the names of the archaeologists, historians, and whistleblowers who had protected history instead of profiting from it.
At the entrance stood a simple bronze plaque.
It read:
"Silence protects power. Courage protects truth."
Visitors stopped to read it every day.
Some nodded quietly before entering.
Others stood there for several minutes, reflecting on its meaning.
One evening, Mara walked alone through the restored galleries.
Children laughed as they admired treasures that once had been hidden from the world.
History no longer belonged to the powerful.
It belonged to everyone.
Her father joined her beneath the glass dome.
"You could have taken revenge," he said softly.
She smiled.
"I didn't want revenge."
"I wanted the truth to become impossible to ignore."
Outside, the city continued as always.
But inside the museum...
The place where fear had once ruled...
May you like
Justice had finally become permanent.
The End.
