For days, Mason’s name dominated the news.
People who had never met him judged him.
Business partners questioned him.

Patricia believed she had won.

Lena looked at him.

He nodded.

The woman who claimed she had been abandoned was exposed.
The family that accused Mason of cruelty became the family everyone questioned.
Within days, Patricia lost everything she cared about.
Not her money.
Not her status.
Her control.
But the biggest shock came when Mason received another call.
From Patricia herself.
“I need to see you.”
He almost refused.
But Lena touched his arm.
“Go.”
He looked surprised.
“Why?”
“Because closure matters.”
So Mason met his mother one final time.
She looked older.
Smaller.
Broken.
“I was afraid,” Patricia whispered.
Mason said nothing.
“I thought if I didn’t control everything, everyone would leave me.”
His eyes softened slightly.
“But you pushed everyone away yourself.”
A tear fell from her face.
“Can you forgive me?”
Mason was silent for a long time.
Then he answered:
“I forgive you.”
Patricia looked hopeful.
“But forgiveness does not mean I forget.”
His voice remained calm.
“And it does not mean you get access to my family again.”
