CHAPTER 2 — THE FORGOTTEN BLOODLINE

The door closed.

Silence returned—but it was no longer empty. It was charged, like the air before a storm breaks.

Elena took a cautious step back. “Your Majesty… I don’t understand. Why did you say that? About the gown?”

King Adrian did not answer immediately. Instead, he walked toward the far wall and pressed his hand against a carved emblem hidden behind layers of royal insignia.

A soft mechanism clicked.

A panel slid open.

Behind it was a second chamber—smaller, older, untouched by time.

And inside it… another gown.

Not crimson.

White-gold, delicate as morning light. Half-finished. Abandoned.

Elena’s breath caught.

“That one,” the king said quietly, “was the original coronation gown. Designed for the true heir.”

He turned back to her.

“For you.”

Her voice broke. “I’ve never seen you before in my life.”

“I know.”

The words landed heavily.

The king stepped closer, lowering his voice.

“Sixteen years ago, a child vanished from this palace. Not taken by accident… but hidden. For protection.”

Elena shook her head. “This is insane. I’m just a village girl.”

“Are you?” he asked gently.

Then he reached into his robe and pulled out a small silver brooch.

He held it out.

Elena hesitated before taking it.

The moment her fingers touched it, a strange sensation surged through her—like a memory that wasn’t hers, trying to surface through deep water.

Her knees nearly gave out.

The king watched carefully.

“You feel it, don’t you?”

Elena whispered, “What is happening to me?”

“That brooch belonged to Queen Seraphine,” he said. “Your mother.”

The world tilted.

No sound.

May you like

No breath.

Just the weight of impossible truth settling over her like falling snow.
