CHAPTER 3: Truth and Justice

Margaret stepped back, trying to stay calm.
“You can’t believe a child over me—”
“The police are already on their way,” Daniel interrupted.
She froze.
Right then, sirens sounded outside the villa.
Panic spread across her face.
“You have no right to do this! I was only disciplining her!”
Daniel knelt and picked Lily up, holding her tightly in his arms.
“No one has the right to make my daughter afraid.”
The police entered the house.
Margaret was handcuffed, screaming and struggling, but it was already too late.
As she was taken away, Lily remained trembling in her father’s embrace.
Daniel whispered softly,
“I’m sorry… for not seeing it sooner.”
Lily said nothing—she only held him tighter.
