CHAPTER 2: The Father Returns
In the kitchen, Margaret continued her harsh commands.
“Clean it again! It’s still dirty!”
Lily, exhausted, collapsed onto the floor, tears streaming down her face.
At that moment…
CLICK!
The front door opened.
Daniel walked in.
The atmosphere changed instantly.
Margaret flinched, then forced a fake smile.
“Oh, sir… you’re home early…”
But Daniel didn’t look at her.
He looked at his daughter—kneeling on the floor, her hands red, her eyes swollen from crying.
“What have you done to my daughter?” his voice was cold enough to freeze the room.
“I… I was just teaching her how to do housework…” Margaret stammered.
Daniel raised his phone.
On the screen: footage of Margaret yelling, dragging Lily, and forcing her to work while she cried.
Silence.
Margaret turned pale.
“You… you misunderstood…”
