CHAPTER 1: THE HUMILIATION

The grand ballroom of Sterling Manor glittered beneath crystal chandeliers as the city's elite mingled over champagne and expensive smiles.

Among them stood Aiyana, dressed in a graceful traditional gown that drew attention without demanding it. She spoke little, preferring to observe.

Vivianne, a famous socialite known for her arrogance, immediately took offense.

"Who invited her?" she scoffed loudly. "This isn't a charity event."

The guests laughed nervously.

When Aiyana chose not to respond, Vivianne grew bolder. She grabbed a glass of red wine and deliberately splashed it across Aiyana's dress.

Gasps echoed through the room.

But Vivianne wasn't finished.

She pressed her hand against the fabric and smeared the stain even further.

"Now everyone can see where you belong," she sneered.

The crowd watched in stunned silence, expecting tears, anger, or embarrassment.

Instead, Aiyana calmly looked down at the ruined dress.

Then she slowly raised her eyes.

And smiled.

A smile so calm that it made the room suddenly uncomfortable.

"Are you finished?" she asked.

For the first time that evening, Vivianne felt a chill run down her spine.
