Chapter 2 – A Legacy Cannot Be Bought

Within an hour, nearly every guest at the rehearsal had heard the story.

The letter wasn't emotional.

It was brutally precise.

Blackwood Hall...

The concert theater...

The music academy...

The charitable foundation...

None of them legally belonged to the corporation Julian now controlled.

Decades earlier, the family patriarch had quietly transferred ownership into an independent cultural trust.

Its sole protector was never meant to be the wealthiest descendant.

It was meant to be the descendant who preserved the family's artistic mission.

Attached to the letter was another document.

A signed appointment.

Guardian of the Blackwood Cultural Trust.

Name:

Evelyn Ashford.

Julian snatched the papers.

"This is fake."

"It isn't."

The voice came from behind.

Every head turned.

A silver-haired attorney stepped from a black sedan carrying a leather portfolio.

"I've waited twenty-two years for someone to present the original violin."

He introduced himself.

"I represented your grandfather."

Julian's confidence cracked.

The attorney continued calmly.

"The violin, the letter, and the appointment were designed as three matching keys."

"Without all three..."

"...no one could claim the trust."

Seraphina finally lowered her phone.

"What trust?"

The attorney opened his folder.

"The trust that owns nearly every historic Blackwood property."

Julian's smile disappeared.

"So..."

"...the corporation doesn't own this estate?"

The attorney answered with one sentence.

"It never did."

Gasps echoed across the marble courtyard.

The rehearsal had become a public reckoning.

Everything Julian believed he possessed had been borrowed from a legacy he never understood.
