PART 2 — The Heir Who Shouldn’t Exist

The door to the study slammed open before anyone could stop him.

Julian Harrington.

The eldest son.

Calm. Impeccable suit. Perfect posture.

But his eyes flicked immediately to the screen.

“What is this?” he asked smoothly.

Emily stepped forward, voice trembling. “I know it was you.”

A pause.

Then Julian smiled.

Not warmly.

Carefully.

“As you can see,” he said, turning to his father, “the footage is unclear. Shadows can be misleading.”

“The cufflink isn’t unclear,” the security officer replied.

Silence tightened like a rope.

Julian walked closer to the screen. “Do you really think I would risk my own child’s life?”

A cold sentence.

“My child?” Emily repeated.

That was the first crack.

Julian exhaled slowly. “Yes, Emily. Our child. Unless you’ve forgotten whose bloodline matters in this house.”

Mr. Harrington’s expression darkened. “Explain.”

For the first time, Julian’s calm slipped.

Just for a second.

“I was securing the future of this family,” he said quietly. “Before someone unworthy destroys it from the inside.”

Emily felt her knees weaken.

“Unworthy…” she whispered. “You mean me—or the baby?”

Julian didn’t answer.

He didn’t have to.

Because the silence said everything.

And then Emily understood something far worse than betrayal.

This wasn’t an accident.

It was a decision already made long before she ever stepped on those stairs.
